Wedding Celebrant Fees
My basic fee is $300 but this may vary slightly based on the distance that may be required to travel. There may be no charge for travel depending on the area but as the Bay of Islands covers a large part of Northland and getting from A to B can sometimes include the need to travel by boat! Its better to contact me to discuss your requirements in more detail and I’ll be happy to give to an accurate quote.
Please remember that their is also a small fee of $150 to pay directly to the Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages for the licence which you can apply for online.
Finally, I do ask couples to pay a deposit of $100 NZD to secure their chosen date since, as a wedding celebrant I never perform more than one ceremony per day. The remaining balance is simply due before the wedding day.
When should you starting looking for your wedding celebrant?
The short answer is as soon as you’ve locked in your date.
The longer answer is that legally speaking you need to have secured your celebrant before you apply for your marriage license. The name of your celebrant has to be included on the statutory declaration form that you provide to the Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Also from a practical point of view, your wedding celebrant needs to write your ceremony and, in order to do that well, will need some time to get to know you by either by meeting face-to-face, chatting on skype or at the very least by emails before your big day.
My fee includes:
- Designing a wedding ceremony to suit your wishes.
Giving you flexibility for your wedding service in case of delays, poor weather, etc. I will only perform one ceremony per day so their is no danger of overlaps.
Assisting couples with paperwork, ensuring all the correct documentation is submitted to the department of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
- Providing a presentation copy of your wedding ceremony as a keep sake of your special day.
